DESCRIPTION.

ENGINE.

The Engine is called Curtiss 0.K.5-90 H.P. 8-Cylinder V. Type. Its normal R.P.. is 1450. This engine is as powerful

and efficient as many rated at 200 H.P.

COOLING

fitt.

It is filled with a Blower for cooling.

PROPELLER.

The Propeller blades are of steel, the hub being of a light alloy. The Pitch is adjustable, and if suitably adjusted, will enable the machine to leave the ground very quickly.

PUSELAGE.

All steel. Braced throughout with steel wire of best quality, making machine vibrationless, and easily repairable. It is covered with wood (possibly 3 Piy).

SEATING ACCOMMODATION.

The Pilot and two passengers seats are 27 inches for the pilot, and 29 inches for the passengers. The cushions stuffed with wool and are very comfortable. The flooring is of 3 Ply wood.

There is accommodation for small luggage above the heads of the passengers in a small locker. This also serves the purpose of protecting passengers from the wind.

PLANES.

The machine is of Biplane type. The planes are rade of touch wood. Foot-boards, 12 inches wide are fitted on each bottom plane to enable passengers to reach their seats without danger to the planes.

ELPENNAGE.

The

Consists of tail-plane, Fin, elevators and rudder. former is made of tough and durable wood and the others are of steel.

CONTROLS.

The control wires are all of steel stranded and flexible cable. The aileron control-wires are totally enclosed in the planes to reduce wind resistance.

COVERINGS.

The wind surfaces and fuselage are covered with American Hemp fabric treated with a special varnish to make it durable and weather-proof.

UNDER-CARRIAGE.

Wheels are of steel wire spokes and rims with pneumatic rubber tyres. Landing shocks and shocks due to unevenness of landing ground are absorbed by steel-springs.
